HIMALAYAN SALT

ORIGIN OF HIMALAYAN SALT:

Himalayan salt is rock salt or halite from a mine in the Punjab region of Pakistan, which rises from the Indo-Gangetic Plain. It is mined in the Khewra Salt Mine, located in KhewraJhelum DistrictPunjab regionPakistan. The foothills of the Salt Range are located 300 km from the Himalayas298 km from AmritsarIndia and 260 km from Lahore. The Himalayan salt sometimes occurs in a reddish or pink color, with some crystals having an off-white to transparent color.

There is an old expression "worth ones salt" which has its root in ancient Roman linguistics. Soldiers then were paid a 'Salarium' which was an allowance for the purchase of salt, and in fact the roman word for soldier literally translates to 'one who is paid in salt.' In those days salt was a rare and valuable commodity. Why? Naturally acquired Himalayan salt is packed with 84 essential trace minerals and electrolytes and plays a valuable role in the regulation of myriad bodily processes. However, after the invention of artificially produced sodium chloride (table salt), the overuse and abundance of this type of salt — which is completely devoid of trace minerals — gave salt a bad name. In fact, after the invention and proliferation of this type of artificial salt, doctors started noticing health conditions among the population that were related to lack of mineral intake, so they decided to insert iodine back into this artificial salt. That is where we get 'iodized salt.' But even with the added iodine, table salt does not come anywhere near the mineral packed powerhouse that mother nature created.

MINERAL COMPOSITION OF HIMALAYAN SALT:

The lists elements found in Himalayan salt in addition to sodium and chloride. In alphabetical order, they are: actinium, aluminum, antimony, arsenic, astatine, barium, beryllium, bismuth, boron, bromine, cadmium, calcium, carbon, cerium, cesium, chlorine, chromium, cobalt, copper, dysprosium, erbium, europium, fluorine, francium, gadolinium, gallium, germanium, gold, hafnium, holmium, hydrogen, indium, iodine, iridium, iron, lanthanum, lead, lithium, lutetium, magnesium, manganese, mercury, molybdenum, neodymium, neptunium, nickel, niobium, nitrogen, osmium, oxygen, palladium, phosphorus, platinum, plutonium, polonium, potassium, praseodymium, protactinium, radium, rhenium, rhodium, rubidium, ruthenium, samarium, scandium, selenium, silicon, silver, sodium, strontium, sulfur, tantalum, tellurium, terbium, thallium, thorium, thulium, tin, titanium, uranium, vanadium, wolfram, yttrium, ytterbium, zinc and zirconium.

USES OF HIMALAYAN SALT:

MINERAL SOAK:
Salt and mineral baths are a great way to relax at the end of the day while simultaneously infusing the skin and body with minerals and hydration.

SOOTHE AWAY SORENESS:
A warm bath infused with Himalayan salt is also great for relaxing cramped muscles.  The magnesium and some other trace minerals found in HPS absorb through the skin to help heal damaged muscle and other soft tissues.

PURIFY AIR:
Himalayan salt lamp actually made of HPS, which acts as a natural air purifier by pulling moisture from the surrounding environment into the salt.  Heat from the bulb quickly evaporates the water back into the air, but any toxins that were previously carried in the cycled moisture are left behind, trapped by the salt ions.

SINUS IRRIGATION:
Himalayan salt kills bacteria and bonds to many contaminants that may be stuck in your nasal cavities due to breathing polluted air.

DETOXIFICATION:
Himalayan salt also works as a powerful detoxifier.  When dissolved in water, HPS becomes an ionic solution that helps to draw the toxins out of skin and adipose tissues.

LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE:
Because of its high sodium content, saying that Himalayan salt has the ability to lower your blood pressure makes a lot of people skeptical.

BALANCE PH:
PH imbalance lean toward acidity and can fix by drinking sole made with Himalayan salt.

REGULATE HYDRATION:
Brine solution of water that has been fully saturated with natural, unrefined salt – HPS provides the body with electrolytes which regulate hydration, among other things.

STRENGTHENS THE BODY:
Many of the minerals found in HPS are also vital for the human body to maintain strong bones and connective tissues, as well as proper muscle regeneration and blood circulation.

IMPROVE DIGESTION:
Nutrients in HPS can actually increase the ability of our gastrointestinal tract to absorb other nutrients.  For this reason, trading your shaker of table salt for Himalayan pink will help you to better digest your food.
